ABOUT THE COMPANY
The Missing Ingredient (TMI) is a food and beverage marketing agency that has spent more than ten years helping food, beverage and CPG brands grow. Its services span paid media across Google, Meta, TikTok and retail media, plus organic social, influencer relations and email marketing. TMI is a fully remote, asynchronous team of about 20 people across the US and abroad, and it describes itself as an AI-first agency that is actively rebuilding how campaigns get set up, optimized and reported.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
A senior performance marketer ready to own the paid media and measurement practice. You will take paid media oversight, performance review and media planning off the founder's plate, become the paid media voice on client calls, and raise the bar for the buyers on the team. This is an oversight and strategy seat, not account management: you make sure every paid program is set up right, measured right and getting smarter each week, while staying hands-on in the accounts.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL
- Own the weekly review of every paid program, reading the data, the AI-assisted reports and the buyers' analysis, and deciding what it really means
- Turn findings into clear, prioritized actions for the team and follow through until they are done
- Shape campaign architecture, budget allocation, pacing and testing plans across Meta, Google (Search, PMAX, YouTube, Demand Gen), TikTok and retail media such as Walmart Connect, Instacart and Amazon
- Lead media planning for seasonal campaigns and annual plans, including upper-funnel and offline channels such as CTV and OOH
- Act as the team's technical authority on tracking: GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel and Conversions API, Merchant Center and naming conventions
- Audit new client accounts at onboarding and catch duplicate conversions, broken tags and bad data before they cost a client money
- Design measurement into every plan, from geo-lift and holdout tests to brand lift, so you can prove what drove retail and DTC sales
- Look past the click at landing pages, site behavior and conversion flow, and connect media data to first-party customer data
- Present results and recommendations on client calls with confidence, and contribute to new business pitches
- Coach the paid media buyers day to day, review their work and document playbooks so the team builds on them
YOU'LL SUCCEED IF YOU HAVE
- 6+ years in performance marketing with hands-on depth across paid social, paid search and retail media
- A track record of overseeing paid programs across multiple clients or brands, including reviewing others' work and setting direction
- Real DTC performance experience (CAC, contribution margin, LTV, conversion rate) alongside experience driving retail sales through paid media
- Full-funnel thinking: you work backward from a business goal such as "drive in-store sales in these markets" to the channels, tactics and measurement plan
- Deep tracking fluency: you have personally set up, audited and fixed GA4, GTM and conversion tracking
- The ability to explain CAC, incrementality and blended ROAS to a client in plain language, and to defend a recommendation with data
- A collaborative, low-ego style that makes the people around you sharper, and comfort working asynchronously in Slack, Loom and Notion
- Genuine enthusiasm for AI and automation, paired with the judgment to check the machine's work
NICE TO HAVE
- Food and beverage, CPG or consumer brand experience, including seasonal and purchase-cycle marketing
- CTV and programmatic buying experience
- Brand lift measurement vendors (Kantar, Nielsen, Lucid or similar) and a working understanding of media mix modeling
- Experience using creator content as paid creative (whitelisting, Partnership Ads)
- Meta Blueprint and Google Ads certifications, or willingness to complete them within 90 days
WHY JOIN THIS TEAM
This is a ground-floor leadership seat. You will define what performance marketing looks like at a growing, AI-first agency, work alongside senior leaders who push each other's thinking, and have a clear path from Director to VP, Performance Marketing as the practice and team grow underneath you. If you have been running great campaigns and have hit a ceiling, this is the next step.
